Is your lawn yellow, patchy, or dying?
How often should I water?
We recommend the following watering schedule. You may need to adjust time/frequency depending on the amount of sun/shade your lawn receives. The goal is for your water to get deep into the lawn to help the grass stay hydrated and to prevent evaporation.
Spring/Fall:
Water every other day once per day for 25-35 minutes. Do this early in the morning or late at night (Somewhere between 11 pm and 6 am). If it is cold/freezing in your area move this time frame from 10 pm to 8 am.
Summer:
Water every other day twice per day for 25-35 minutes. Do this early in the morning or late at night (Somewhere between 11 pm and 6 am).
My grass is patchy what do I do?
We recommend raking and loosening the dirt in the areas you want the grass to grow. After this has been completed we recommend adding a grass seed a fertilizer mix and covering it with a small layer of topsoil. Please ensure that you purchase the correct type of grass for the area you are seeding. (Sunny areas, shade, sun shad mix, etc…). Follow the instructions on the bag of the seed mix chosen. We recommend Scott’s seeds and fertilizers for personal use. (Not a sponsor).
My lawn is older and very thick is that ok?
We recommend that each Spring usually early to mid April you dethatch and aerate your lawn. This is especially true for lawns over 5 years of age. Detaching helps remove the dead grass clippings that can choke out your living grass. Aeration helps provide oxygen to the roots of your lawn. Both will promote a healthier lawn.
How often should I fertilize my lawn?
Food and water are the key to a healthy lawn. We recommend one weed and feed session in early spring and one weed and feed session in fall. If you notice lots of weeds, or that your grasses growth has stagnated we also recommend a mid summer application. Your spring session will help promote growth as the weather starts to warm and the fall session will help to get nutrients into the soil for the next season.
